Classes for Young Learners (ages 10-14):
Juniors Courses

If your child is under the age of 15 and would like to study English in Oxford, CIE can help.

Summers (June, July, and August)

If your child is aged 10 to 14, he or she will attend group English language lessons in the mornings*.

The complete juniors programme includes afternoon social activities each weekday (Monday to Friday).

If the student is staying with family or friends while in Oxford, a tuition-only option is available that does not include accommodation or activities.

We invite you to download a PDF describing our Host Family Summer Package, which is available for juniors.

During the Academic Year (September to May)

Outside of the summers, most junior students will study for three hours each weekday morning in private (one-to-one) lessons*. One afternoon social activity per week is made available throughout the year for junior students and is included in the standard tuition price.

Again, if the student is staying with family or friends while in Oxford, a tuition-only option is available that does not include accommodation.

Tuition for Juniors at CIE

The teachers for our juniors courses are all thoroughly background checked and experienced in designing and facilitating lessons for young learners.

We are happy to accept students as young as 5 throughout the year, but special arrangements will need to be made for private tuition custom-designed to the child's age and level of English. We have several specialist teachers at CIE who are experienced in working with young children.

We can also help you prepare for any examinations that you might want to take, such as the the Cambridge Young Learners English Tests, which are designed to assess the English of primary learners between the ages of 7 and 12. Depending on demand, this preparation can take place in either a group lesson or private lessons.

* Please note: If after trying group lessons for a short time, it is determined that your child is unable to take part in a class group for any reason, we will offer you the choice of private (one-to-one) lessons, at an additional cost.
