Osama was a beginner, speaking and understanding very little English when he first came to study at CIE. He started out in our General English classes, but this year, he has been on our Pre–University Foundation year course and will be enrolling at a British university in the Autumn.
CIE's Kerri Hamberg spoke with Osama (on a very windy day!) during a break between lessons.
Kerri: You've been here a long time?
Osama: Yeah, I've been here one year and a half.
Kerri: What's your favourite club?
Osama: My favourite club is Park End. It's just near Park End Street.
Kerri: The whole row? Do you have one favourite?
Osama: Yeah, one, yeah.
Kerri: Which one?
Osama: Park End. It's called Park End.
Kerri: Oh, it's called Park End?
Osama: Yeah. And Bridge. They're pretty good. Not compared to London, but it's all right.
Kerri: Of course. Do you go to London a lot?
Osama: Not a lot, no.
Kerri: Not a lot. How often do you go--once a month?
Osama: Once a month, maybe twice a month.
Kerri: Do you go out?
Osama: Yeah...
Kerri: Where do you go in London?
Osama: The centre of London.
Kerri: The centre... Soho?
Osama: Yeah.
Kerri: All right, thank you!
